Enius to install the 10th ADLS system at Windpark DMO

And at this location, the same principle applies: less light nuisance for the surrounding area without compromising safety.

The Aircraft Detection Lighting System (ADLS) ensures that aviation warning lights on wind turbines are only activated when they are genuinely needed. Using transponder technology, aircraft and helicopters transmit signals that are detected by the ADLS system. As soon as an aircraft enters the defined area, the red warning lights automatically switch on.

The challenge at Windpark DMO

The wind farm is located within the LOFAR region, where extremely strict requirements apply to prevent interference with the antennas of the radio telescope network. This required a customised solution with minimal electromagnetic emissions.

And that is exactly where Enius makes the difference. We developed, tested and optimised the solution until it met all requirements. Persistence paid off.

What happens next?

The coming period will focus on installation and validation by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT). Following approval, the system is expected to become operational around mid-2027. From that moment on, the red aviation lights will only be activated when aircraft are nearby.
