Rijn and IJssel Water Authority: ahead of the curve with Enius!
The challenge
The day-to-day operation of the two wind turbines requires continuous monitoring and rapid action whenever deviations occur. During winter, ice build-up creates additional risks, particularly at a location such as a wastewater treatment plant where safety is paramount.
That is why targeted measures are taken. With the Ice Prevention System (IPS), turbines are shut down in time to prevent ice throw. This helps keep the surrounding area safe and risks under control.
At the same time, we help ensure that the wind farm remains a good neighbour by minimising the impact of red aviation warning lights wherever possible.
Our approach
With our 24/7 Control Room, we continuously monitor the two turbines operated by the Rijn and IJssel Water Authority. We respond to faults when they occur, while our asset management team ensures that all long-term obligations associated with the wind farm are fulfilled.
Through our Solutions department, we provide comprehensive support for both ice prevention and aviation lighting management. Our Aircraft Detection Lighting System (ADLS) uses receivers mounted on the nacelle to activate the obstruction lights only when an aircraft or helicopter is actually nearby.
In addition, our ice prevention solution goes beyond the standard IPS system. We have expanded it with additional tools that provide greater insight into ice conditions over time (Ice Forecaster) and across different locations (Risk Zone Calculator).
Why these services made the difference
The integrated Enius approach brings together day-to-day operations, safety and environmental management in an efficient and coordinated way.
