Enius protects Windpark Zeewolde against ice throw
The Topwind IPS system from Enius provides Windpark Zeewolde with optimal protection against ice throw.
The challenge
Windpark Zeewolde consists of several rows of wind turbines located in the southern Flevoland polder. Although it is a rural area, there is significant activity, including residential properties, traffic and agricultural operations. Safety in relation to ice throw is therefore a key priority for Windpark Zeewolde.
At the same time, the wind farm wants to avoid unnecessary turbine downtime.
Our approach
The Topwind IPS system from Enius provides Windpark Zeewolde with optimal protection against ice throw. With 14 IPS installations and 8 additional camera systems, ice conditions are continuously and accurately monitored from our 24/7 Control Room.
At the same time, the system ensures that turbines are not stopped unnecessarily and are restarted at the appropriate moment to minimise production losses.
As Windpark Zeewolde consists of multiple organisations — Windpark Zeewolde B.V., Eneco and Pure Energie — specific customer requirements must be met, particularly in areas such as cybersecurity and operational procedures.
Enius has extensive experience delivering products and services to both individual turbine owners and large utility companies, enabling us to meet these requirements effectively.
Why these services made the difference
These services make a difference because Enius combines advanced technology with 24/7 monitoring and a thorough understanding of customer-specific requirements. The Topwind IPS system ensures both safety and operational continuity, even under challenging icing conditions, while addressing the complex operational and cybersecurity requirements of the various entities within Windpark Zeewolde. Thanks to this integrated approach, both individual turbine owners and large utility companies benefit from reliable, tailored solutions.
